Union Leader: 'Take Out' Tea Party 'Sons Of Bitches'

At President Obama's Labor Day Rally James Hoffa, son of Jimmy Hoffa and current President of the Teamsters Union says 'They have a War!' 'Our Army is Ready to March For You'. 'Let's Take These Son of a Bitches Out!'
Hoffa was referring to members of the Tea Party and others who oppose the president's policies. Hoffa spoke just before the President.
As far as we know, neither the president nor anyone from his administration has condemned (or even dissociated themselves from) these scurrilous remakrs.
I suppose this is what the Democrats and the liberals mean when they talk about "civility."

When Did Dems (And Labor) Forget About Jobs?

Camden's Broadway in the 1950s.
I’ve always loved parades.
And I’ve attended many of them in my time.
But one parade above all others stands out in my memory.
I was just a kid at the time but I’ll never forget the big parade in my hometown to celebrate jobs. Sponsored by organized labor, the parade marched down Broadway in Camden (NJ) to herald the construction of the NS Savannah at Camden’s 273-acre New York Shipbuilding Corporation.
Above all, Camden was a blue-collar town. And it was solidly Democrat and pro-labor.
Employment was always the defining “bread and butter” issue for Democrats. And keeping people working and creating new jobs – good jobs – was the essential mission of the Democratic Party. Indeed, “jobs” was the party’s mantra and Democrats rarely spoke on any issue without mentioning jobs.
As Labor Day approaches once again, I think of that day in Camden so many years ago.
What happened?
What went wrong?
When did the Democratic Party lose sight of its core responsibility? When did it stop caring about jobs?
The just-released jobs report for August showed that ZERO jobs were created: zilch, nada, nothing.
That's the first time since 1945 that  this has happened.
When he came into office, President Obama pledged to create 2.7 million to 3.6 million private sector jobs, But by some accounts the nation has lost almost that many jobs (and more!) since the President made his pledge. In fact, unemployment seems stuck at 9.1% even though the president said he would have it below 8%.
That's right: In arguing for its massive stimulus plan, the Obama Administration said that if the stimulus was adopted, unemployment could be brought down into the seven percent range. Instead, the high unemployment rate has barely moved.
And most Americans firmly believe that things seem to be headed in the wrong direction.
Remember, the official rate does not count the underemployed and people who have given up and simply dropped out of the labor market. When those two groups are added, the rate jumps to 17 percent or more.
But nobody on the left seems to want to talk about these failures – not the liberal establishment, not the Democratic leadership and certainly not the labor movement. Last year at this time, President Obama argued that the economy was in a ditch and now “we’ve gotten it out of the ditch and want to put it in drive.” But the car still doesn’t seem to be moving.
There was a time when labor leaders were close to the people. There was a time when they actually worked alongside the people that they represented. Those days seem long gone.
And all of this has been happening as union membership has steadily dwindled. When the Savannah was built in Camden, labor unions represented a third of all workers. By 1983 the number had fallen to 20 percent. And by 2008 it was down to 12 percent. What’s more, the average age of union members seems to be getting older. The largest unionized age group is workers aged 55 to 64.
Why can’t the Democrats turn any of these numbers around?
What happened to one of the central promises of traditional liberalism – jobs?
These are questions worth pondering this Labor Day.

Depression? Is That The Word For This Economy?

In the liberal New Republic, Richard A. Posner writes that we are now actually in a depression, not a recession.
Here's an excerpt:
If the notion that we are merely living through the aftereffects of a mere “recession” that ended in 2009 sounds somewhat ridiculous, that’s because it is. If we were being honest with ourselves, we would call this a depression. That would certainly better convey both the severity of our problems, and the fact that those problems have no evident solutions.
And another:
Half the adult population, moreover, pays no income tax. Everyone with an income should pay income tax equal to a modest percentage of his income.

Liberals And The 'Complex Problems' Escape Hatch

Ever notice how liberals love to diffuse blame?*
When blame becomes amorphous, answers remain elusive. And that's what liberals LOVE because it validates their elitist notion that everything is so complex.
It reminds me of what Reagan once said: "There are simple solutions. There just aren't any easy ones."
So, as long as liberals can keep things unsimplified, they can avoid the hard work of tackling real problems. And things just get worse . . . . .
*Of course, this diffusion of blame NEVER applies to George W. Bush. Liberals will be blaming him for everything from  hiccups to hurricanes for decades to come. There, the blame is always easy to find. And it's always spelled B-u-s-h.

Podhoretz: Now The Left Turns On Obama

Norman Podhoretz has one of the best columns I've read so far about President Obama's current predicament. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Podhoretz answers the question: "What Happened to Obama?" with a single word -- "Nothing."
As far as Podhoretz is concerned, Obama is the "same anti-American leftist he was before becoming our president." As always, Podhoretz gives us plenty to think about.
Here's an excerpt from the column:
It's open season on President Obama. Which is to say that the usual suspects on the right (among whom I include myself) are increasingly being joined in attacking him by erstwhile worshipers on the left. Even before the S&P downgrade, there were reports of Democrats lamenting that Hillary Clinton had lost to him in 2008. Some were comparing him not, as most of them originally had, to Lincoln and Roosevelt but to the hapless Jimmy Carter. There was even talk of finding a candidate to stage a primary run against him. But since the downgrade, more and more liberal pundits have been deserting what they clearly fear is a sinking ship.
Here, for example, from the Washington Post, is Richard Cohen: "He is the very personification of cognitive dissonance—the gap between what we (especially liberals) expected of the first serious African American presidential candidate and the man he in fact is." More amazingly yet Mr. Cohen goes on to say of Mr. Obama, who not long ago was almost universally hailed as the greatest orator since Pericles, that he lacks even "the rhetorical qualities of the old-time black politicians." And to compound the amazement, Mr. Cohen tells us that he cannot even "recall a soaring passage from a speech."

Buyer's Remorse: 'I Should Have Picked Hillary'

Yet another person comes forward expressing buyer's remorse.
Here's what Bill McClellan has to say in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
I was splashing around in Lake Michigan last week when the realization hit me like a wave — I was wrong about Barack Obama. I should have voted for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary three years ago.

When A Racist Isn't A Racist

Great commentary at Fox News from Bernard Goldberg. Here's an excerpt:
Let’s say a white guy goes on television, puts on an exaggerated "Amos ‘n Andy" “black voice” and proceeds to make fun of a black man whose politics the white guy doesn’t like. Actually, let’s say he goes beyond merely making fun of the black man. Let’s say he tries to make the black man sound downright stupid. Does that make the white guy a racist?
The correct answer is … it depends.
If the white guy is Rush Limbaugh and the black man is Barack Obama. Then of course the white guy is a racist – according to liberals.
But if the white guy is Jon Stewart and the black man is Herman Cain, the conservative businessman seeking the Republican nomination for president, well, then, that’s another story.

She Says 'Buy American' But Drives Foreign

Democrat National Committee Cahir Debbie Wasserman "Blabbermouth" Schultz has done it again.
Ever since she became the DNC Chair Schultz has putting her foot in her mouth.
Her latest foray?
Well, she thinks everyone should go out and buy an American-made car.
That's what she said, and who can argue with that? Sounds like a great idea. In fact, it's such a good idea that I've long mad it practice to ONLY buy American cars. In our family, we own four American cars -- all made in the USA.
But like most phony liberals Wasserman Schultz doesn't practice what she preaches.
Turns our she drives a Nissan and an Infiniti. Ain't that cute?
This is classic leftist hypocrisy. And we see it time and time again.
What the liberals want you to do and what they do are two different things. Surely you're not surprised by this. Liberals are special people. They don't have to follow their own rules. The rules are for you -- not for them.
My advice: Buy American because it's the right think to do and tell this Blabbermouth to park her tres chic foreign cars at the side of the road and take a walk.

Harvard Hypocrites And Obama's Father

Hypocrites.
What other word could you possibly use to describe that Harvard gang?
Well, no one ever went to the Ivy League looking for candor. No way. Not then --when Obama's father was a Harvard student. And not now -- when the school produces cutthroat upstarts like Mark Zuckerberg and the Winklevoss Twins.
Anyway, turns out that in the 1960s Harvard wanted the elder Obama out because he had apparently come to be somewhat of an embarrassment to the ivy-entrenched establishment crowd. A newly-released memo (one that Harvard tried to suppress) says that Harvard officials  “were having difficulty with his financial arrangements and couldn’t seem to figure out how many wives he had.”
“They are planning on telling him that they will not give him any money, and that he had better return to Kenya and prepare his thesis at home,” the memo states.
In 1964, David D. Henry, director of Harvard’s international office, wrote to Obama Sr. to try to force him out of Harvard.
“We have, therefore, come to the conclusion that you should terminate your stay in the United States and return to Kenya to carry on your research and the writing of your thesis,” Henry’s letter stated.
And so, Obama's father was forced out and never completed his Phd.
Harvard issued a statement Friday saying that it could not find in its own records anything to support the accounts.
Top which I say b-a-l-o-n-e-y!
The liberal elites who run Harvard and other Ivy League schools are hardly models of integrity. They weren't then. They aren't now.
This is not to defend Obama Sr. He should have had his finances in order and he should have been more candid with women he was dating (one of whom he married) while he was still married to someone else.
But at the very least, Harvard could have leveled with this guy.
Shame on 'em!

'Atlas Shrugged' Stuns Hollywood; Adds Theaters

The maninstream media are doing everything possible to squelch any interest in the new film Atlas Shrugged.
But the word has gotten out anyway, and people all over the country are rushing to see this movie.
It opened at less than 300 theaters. Now, it gets another big boost this weekend. And the audience just keeps building.
Here's an excerpt from the Washington Times on this phenomenon:
By current Hollywood standards, it is a movie that should never have been made. Imagine this story pitch to progressive movie execs: "we have a female heroine, genius entrepreneurs disappearing, and a government conspiring to control its people and their creations. In short, a powerfully persuasive anti-government message."Not exactly “Iron Man 3” is it?
Yet, despite (or because of) Hollywood’s best efforts to keep the movie down, “Atlas” is racking up dollar signs at the box office. With a hearty $5640 per theater in its opening weekend, “Atlas Shrugged,” based on the influential Ayn Rand best-seller, has left Hollywood insiders dumbstruck to explain its success.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the film will expand its release from 299 theaters to 425 this weekend and to 1,000 by the end of the month.
What is the explanation?

Democrat Rep: GOP Out To 'Kill Women'

The Democrat Party's effort to craft the budget debate around "women's health" (abortion, etc.) is a shameless and disgraceful ploy.
Here's the bottom line: The Democrats would rather shut down the government than stop government funding for Planned Parenthood which performs more than a quarter of a million abortions every year.
But that's not what the Democrats want you to know.
They want to talk in generalities about "women's health". They want to have you embrace the ridiculous notion that the Republican Party actually wants to "kill women."
Nonsense!

How To Know If You're A Socialist

Wayne Allyn Root has a great column in the Washington Times today that helps you to figure out if you just might be a socialist.

Here are a few excerpts:

If you believe it's greedy for American taxpayers to want to keep more of their own money, but not greedy to demand that government confiscate other people's money and redistribute it to those who didn't earn it, you might be a socialist.

If you don't understand (or care) that babies scream and cry the moment they are born because they are already heavily in debt and facing a bleak future and lower quality of life, you might be a socialist.

If you think anyone who doesn't read the New York Times is dumb and ignorant, but think it's OK for Congress to pass a 2,000-page health care bill without reading it, you might be a socialist.

If you think Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar of "The View" represent the moderate wingof the Democratic Party, you might be a socialist.

The Koch Bros. VS Soros? No Contest!

There's a huge article (a tome, really) in The New Yorker about how two successful businessmen (the Koch Brothers) are bankrolling the modern American conservative movement, how they're undermining President Obama and how this is a threat to all of us.
But the article is basically a buncha baloney. And here's why:
The article flat-out admits: "Of course, Democrats give money, too. Their most prominent donor, the financier George Soros, runs a foundation, the Open Society Institute, that has spent as much as a hundred million dollars a year in America. Soros has also made generous private contributions to various Democratic campaigns, including Obama’s."
But there's more -- more that the article conveniently omitted: Using the Open Society Institute as his conduit, Soros has given more than $7 billion to a who’s who of left-wing groups.  This partial list of recipients of Soros’ money says it all: ACORN, Apollo Alliance, National Council of La Raza, Tides Foundation, Huffington Post, Southern Poverty Law Center, Soujourners, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood, and the National Organization for Women.
Bottom line: Soros has funded the left far, far more than these two Koch brothers have funded the right.
The article could account for only about $100 million from the Koch brothers. Soros is up in the BILLIONS.
And let's not forget Big Labor.
Just the top 20 labor unions over the past 20 years have spent over $500 million on federal election campaigns, and 95% of that spending went to Democrats -- that's $475 million. And that's just for the federal election campaigns and does not include other elections and other funding of "front" and other groups.
On top of all that, in the coming year, Obama is expected to raise a billion dollars for his re-election campaign.
The Supreme Court has ruled that most Koch and Soros type contributions are legal.
But the left seems to want one side to be legal while the other is prohibited.
The Republicans should not be expected to go into battle with both hands (financially) tied behind their backs. It ain't gonna happen.
So, the New Yorker can kiss our big, fat pachyderm butts!

The REAL Reasons Why Soros Is So Dangerous.

We all know that George Soros is a very dangerous man.
This zillionaire has funneled more than $7 BILLION to left-wing groups and causes. But in addition to the huge sums of money he donates to the left, Human Events magazine has spelled it out for us in detail -- giving us nine more specific reasons why Soros should be feared by anyone who loves liberty. Here they are:
1. His $$$ influence on US elections.
2. His work to curtail US sovereignty.
3. His backing of  front group, Media Matters.
4. His funding of MoveOn.org.
5. His support of the Center for American Progress.
6. His encouragement of environmental extremism.
7. His funding of America Coming Together.
8. His efforts at currency manipulation.
9. His delusional view of himself.

McCaskill Owed Back Taxes On Plane

Missouri's Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill is facing one helluva fight for re-election next year.
And now she's handed her opponent a potent issue.
All this is quite typical of liberals (especially those high-flying liberals who have $$$ to burn). They want to raise your taxes but they don't necessarily want to pay their own, if they can avoid it.
Anyway, here an excerpt from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill's airplane has caused her more political turbulence, as she acknowledged she may owe more than $287,000 in back taxes on the private aircraft.
McCaskill has already written an $88,000 personal check to the U.S. Treasury Department to reimburse money from her Senate office account used to fly the plane around Missouri, including one flight that was political in nature.
On Monday, she arranged a conference call with reporters to announce that her personal liability may be even greater. McCaskill said she had sent a check to the St. Louis County Department of Revenue for $287,273 to cover four years' worth of personal property taxes, plus interest and penalties.
"This was a mistake," McCaskill said. "It should have been reported in Missouri. It should have been paid in Missouri."

How To Answer Liberal 'Interrogations'

Liberals always seem to want to interrogate conservatives -- but on liberals' terms.
They seem to want to put us "on the stand" as if we have committed some crime. Then they get to ask loaded questions and control the subject. Don't let them do it.
It's no crime to embrace common-sense conservative beliefs.
Here's what I told one liberal who tried this on me recently:
Let's get this straight: I am not under oath; I'm not on the stand and I'm not here to be interrogated by you or anyone else. Interrogation is a form of control, nothing more. THAT is a classic tactic.
Now, in one month Obama has racked up a bigger debt than George W. Bush did in a whole year. The mounting federal debt is robbing us of our freedom and liberty and threatens to enslave our nation. It will certainly deprive our children and grandchildren of options they might otherwise have had. The shaky state of the dollar (related to the deficit) is also cause for concern. If you don't understand that debt that grows out of proportion to the GDP threatens our future then you're missing a very simple, practical point: When we work for our own money instead of insisting on handouts; when we are able to keep more of what we earn; when we practice economic common sense and avoid going into debt, we have more options, more freedom, more opportunities. When we become indebted (either personally or collectively) we close doors to those options or opportunities.
And being indebted to CHINA? Well, that IS scary.
Bigger and bigger government. Growing debt. More government regulation. A burgeoning and bloated federal work force committed to more and more bureaucracy -- this is not the path to freedom and liberty.
Personal responsibility -- rugged individualism -- that's what made America great. The common sense of hard-working, ordinary Americans made us the greatest country on earth. Reagan, again: "Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves."
As we face growing and alarming challenges, I wonder if Obama and the Democrats realize this. I wonder if they even see it. I wonder if they believe in American exceptionalism. I know that I do. And I pray -- yes, PRAY -- that future generations do as well.

Frank Rich Leaving The New York Times

Uber-liberal bellyacher Frank Rich is leaving the New York Times.
The relentless GOP-hating leftist feels it's time to move on.
Here's part of what Rich has to say:
There is no greater newspaper than the Times.
I leave the paper with deep affection for both the institution and my many brilliant colleagues, and with much gratitude for the opportunity the paper gave me to serve in two dream jobs in journalism. After seventeen years in my second career there, as a columnist, I feel much as I did after nearly fourteen years in my first, as chief drama critic -- both the satisfaction that I’ve given a great job all I had and a serious hunger to move on to fresh and expanded writing challenges after having done the same assignment for so long.
BuhhhhhhBYE! . . . Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Reagan At 100: Strong, Fearless, Unintimidated

A great column in The American Spectator today rightly reminds us of Ronald Reagan accomplishments and the disdain with which he was viewed by liberals and the dominant liberal media. It also explains Reagan's bedrock faith in conservatism and its core values. Here's part of what it says:

Amidst all the sudden veneration for Reagan from today's left as a man of moderation (in contrast, but of course, to the wicked conservatives of today) those with longer memories recall vividly that liberals of the day hated Ronald Reagan's guts. This jewel of a statement from his arch-adversary House Speaker Tip O'Neill is but an understated example, as Reagan biographer Steven Hayward has noted:
"The evil is in the White House at the present time. And that evil is a man who has no care and no concern for the working class of America and the future generations of America, and who likes to ride a horse. He's cold. He's mean. He's got ice water for blood."
