Video: Obama Refuses To Condemn Hoffa Remarks

The Obama White House says it has no comment about Hoffa's comments at taxpayer funded Labor Day event that the President attended and spoke at. When pressed with comparisons to previous events which the Obama team was very responsive about, the White House decided to spin.

Romney To Unveil Major Economic Plan

Mitte Romney will unveil a major plan for jobs and the economy tomorrow.
But You can find a preview of it in a fine column that Romney has written for USA Today that also appears on Mitt's website.
Here are some brief excerpts from the column:

Tomorrow, I will introduce a plan consisting of 59 specific proposals — including 10 concrete actions I will take on my first day in office — to turn around America's economy. Each proposal is rooted in the conservative premise that government itself cannot create jobs. At best, government can provide a framework in which economic growth can occur. All too often, however, government gets in the way. The past three years of unparalleled government expansion have retaught that lesson all too well.
Only the individual initiative of entrepreneurs, workers, investors and inventors enables companies, and our economy as a whole, to flourish. We must once again unleash the tremendous economic potential of the American people. The contrast between what the Obama administration has done and what I would do as president could not be starker. . . .
Seeking to pay back political favors, President Obama has catered to the institutional interests of union bosses at the expense of both workers and businesses. I will fight against measures that deprive workers of basic rights, such as the secret ballot. . . .
I will also press for a Constitutional amendment to balance the budget. Tellingly, while the private sector shed 1.8 million jobs since Barack Obama took office, the federal workforce grew by 142,500, or almost 7%. A rollback is urgently required.

Union Leader: 'Take Out' Tea Party 'Sons Of Bitches'

At President Obama's Labor Day Rally James Hoffa, son of Jimmy Hoffa and current President of the Teamsters Union says 'They have a War!' 'Our Army is Ready to March For You'. 'Let's Take These Son of a Bitches Out!'
Hoffa was referring to members of the Tea Party and others who oppose the president's policies. Hoffa spoke just before the President.
As far as we know, neither the president nor anyone from his administration has condemned (or even dissociated themselves from) these scurrilous remakrs.
I suppose this is what the Democrats and the liberals mean when they talk about "civility."

Your Tax $$$s - Obama's Half-Billion-Dollar Bad Bet!

In Obamaland it just gets worse and worse: House investigators said they have uncovered evidence that White House officials became personally involved in an Energy Department review of a hot-button $535 million loan guarantee to the now-failed California solar company Solyndra.

Noonan: Obama's Got A Mighty Hill To Climb

So, there was ZERO job growth in August. And the unemployment rate is still stuck at 9.1%. And the stock market is down again for the week.
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan has succinctly summed up the problem that President Obama now faces. Here's an excerpt:
The real challenge for the speech is the collapse of trust in the president's economic leadership. There are any number of ways to illustrate this. Here is a CNN poll: 65% of respondents disapprove of how he is handling the economy, 34% approve.
The president's problem is that shortly after he was sworn in, the size and severity of the recession became apparent, and from that moment he did not do things that the majority of the American electorate, in hindsight, would say were helpful. And that's the problem with the speech Thursday night, a national mood of, "Nothing personal, but we don't think you can help in this area.

Christie Asks Obama For Expeditted NJ Assistance

Yesterday, New jersey Governor Chris Christie sent a letter to President Obama requesting an expedited declaration of a major disaster for the entire State of New Jersey from the federal government to assist state and local governments, as well as individually affected residents, to receive federal assistance as quickly as possible. Hurricane Irene was a catastrophe of enormous severity and magnitude and the storm conditions required emergency shelters to be established in 16 counties to house nearly16,000 evacuees, while over 700,000 residences suffered power outages. Torrential rains have caused significant flooding in areas across the state, impacting residences, major and local roads, and necessitating highway closures and a suspension of rail services. Recovery efforts are still ongoing in the aftermath of the disaster.

In light of these conditions and the serious impact they are having on New Jersey’s communities, field damage assessments should not be required to determine the State’s eligibility for supplemental federal assistance. Immediate federal assistance is needed now to give New Jersey’s residents a helping hand at an emotionally and financially devastating time.

Romney: Obama Is 3-D: Debt, Downgrade, Delay

“I want to make America the strongest economy on earth.”  . . . .“What I’ve seen from this president is not a AAA presidency but I’ll call it a DDD presidency. It’s been a presidency which has been associated with debt and with downgrade and with delay.” --Mitt Romney

Obama Poll Numbers: Sparse House = Closing Notice

The polls numbers just continue to slide for President Obama.
One has to wonder if it even matters to him.
Sure, we know all about "no drama Obama" -- the man who acts like Mr. Cool. He wants to transmit the message that nothing really gets to him. He's The Unflappable One.
So, even in the midst of our current calamity (and his unartful side in the polls) he can slip away to an island playground for the rich and powerful. No bother. No mess. It'll be just fine.
But let's bring it all back to show biz for a second, OK? A performer may be smooth and slick and totally professional. He or she may have the best act in the business. But if nobody's coming to see the show anymore -- if it ain't selling tickets and the house can't at least break even or make a small profit, that show's gonna close.
Well, the latest Rasmussen Reports presidential tracking poll shows that only 19% of the nation's voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. But 45% now strongly disapprove That means that Obama has what they call a "presidential approval index rating" of  minus 26. This is the lowest approval index rating yet measured for President Obama.
Translation: They ain't buyin, Mr. President. They just ain't buyin.

As Obama Vacations, Debt Sets Record!

Obama sets record: FOUR-AND-A-QUARTER TRILLION DOLLARS of added debt in 945 days. As the president vacations the debt is growing at about THREE MILLION DOLLARS a minute! That's the fastest increase under any president ever.
America's mounting debt  -- and who we are indebted to: truly horrifying!

Consumer Cofindence Headed To New Lows

Consumer confidence has fallen even further now and Conference Board data due later this month could be even weaker than current forecasts indicate, according to new reports.
According to Consumer Edge Research, the Consumer Economic Index is now at 45.4, down 10 percentage points from July and down 1.5 points from the 46.9 level reported on August 10.
The 45.4 reading is the lowest since Consumer Edge Research began its index in March 2010.
While all this is happening, President Obama continues his vacation on cushy Martha's Vineyard, the exclusive Massachusetts island that place host to the rich, powerful and influential.
The president has been swimming, golfing and reading mostly fiction.
Yesterday, with Cherished Friend and Number One Confidant Valeria Jarrett in tow, the president's motorcade took a ten minute ride along unpaved roads to the lush hideaway of  Comcast/NBC/MSNBC honcho Brian Roberts where Obama & Co. dined.
Blast corporate execs, super-millionaires and big time barons one day; dine with them in ultra-private digs the next.
Ahhhh . . . what a life!

Is Obama The Ultimate Teacher/Idealist?

Andrew Atkins is a graduate student of Clinical Psychology and a personality consultant for an upcoming personal discovery and social networking site. At Associated Content (a Yahoo contributor site) Andrew has written an interesting personality analysis of Barack Obama.
To be sure, I don't make it a habit to psychoanalyze famous people. In fact, from a psychological standpoint I often can't even figure out why dear friends and family members act the way they do. Go figure.
But Andrew's analysis is intriguing . Drawing from the work of educational psychologist David Keirsey, Andrew identifies Obama as a teacher/Idealist personality type. And Andrew believes that Obama (who as an idealist would naturally seem to be power averse) was drawn to politics because of his own identity crisis.
Here's part of what Andrew has to say:

Obama's life has been one of duality: he is black and white, American and international. For a young Idealist, whose driving mission is "personal fulfillment," such identity confusion must have been unbearable. Obama's identity crisis was evident in his admission that his adolescent drug use was an attempt to "push questions of who I was out of my mind." For Obama, identity is paramount, and he eventually found his, not in being a member of any one group, but in being a bridge between groups.
Thus, from Hawaii to Indonesia, from Harvard to South Side Chicago, Obama has sought to integrate his worlds by becoming the personification of unity. That is what drove him to teach, to organize communities, and to pursue high office. His belief that he is the long-sought adhesive for a fractured world is what drives his presidency. It is the backbone of his policies, as he seeks to "spread the wealth around" and apologize to the world for America's past.

BTW: I'd be interested to know how all this fits (or doesn't fit) with Obama's apparent ego-centric nature. Why does him seem to be so grandiose and so self-absorbed?

Mitt Romney On The Campaign Trail

“We would not have seen the president on a bus tour had his first 940 days in office been successful. President Obama has not gotten the job done and his policies have failed. He’s hoping that by going on a three day bus tour he can make up for hundreds of days of failure.” –Mitt Romney

The President's Vacation - Here's The Scoop!

Exclusive Martha's Vineyard is the summer retreat of choice for many of the richest Americans -- indeed, for more than a few of the wealthiest people in the world.

So, fresh off a tour of the heartland to spend just a bit of time with "real Americans," the Obamas are headed for 10 glorious days at an exclusive 30-acre enclave on The Vineyard known as Blue Heron Farm. Now, this ain't like any farm you've ever heard of. That's because it's not really a farm.

Hey, the First Lady may enjoy growing garden vegetables but she won't be doing any farming on vacation. No way.

No, this "farm" consists of a main house, guest house, extensive gardens, boat house, horse barn and pasture land, golf green, apple orchard and pool. And this farm even has a basketball court so The Prez can play hoops. Plus, there is access to a private beach.

Blue Heron Farm is off-limits to the general public. In fact, it's gated and very secure.

According to the Vineyard Gazette, "the lack of wider access [and little or no public interaction] maintains a pattern set in Mr. Obama's previous . . . visits to the Island."

Blue Heron Farm is for the Obamas and their special guests -- mostly the sort of wealthy and influential people who can afford to have access to, and vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

You see, Martha's Vineyard is set apart. It's an island at sea off the coast of Massachusetts. So, you can't just get in your car and drive there. You've got to take a ferry or a plane to get there. A study by the Martha's Vineyard Commission found that the cost of living on the island is 60 percent higher than the national average and housing prices are 96 percent higher. The Island attracts so many artists, writers, stars and celebrities that it has often been dubbed "Hollywood East." It is also a popular summer haven for judges, physicians, business executives, surgeons, attorneys, politicians, and professors. This is where the elite meet.

But among all this exclusiveness, Blue Heron Farm is even more exclusive. For, even after you get to The Vineyard, you have to really hunt for Blue Heron Farm because it's located far afield in the less-populated Chilmark section of the island and it sits on the Atlantic Ocean. Very secluded.

When the First Family first started coming to Blue Heron (in 2009) it was all so chic and it was almost as if  a new family of Hollywood stars had taken up residence. The Obamas were still basking in That Glow.

But this is 2011 -- not '09. And an awful lot has changed.

The bright luster that surrounded the Obamas is gone. The bloom is off the rose.

And instead of getting better under Obama, as unlikely as this once seemed, things have actually gotten worse.

The country is facing the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression. Unemployment is high. Millions are out of work and many have given up finding a job altogether. Manufacturing is down. The stock market is tanking. Home sales figures remain glum. The real estate market is kaput. Consumer confidence is at an all time low. And Obama's poll numbers? Well, let's just say that Mr. Hope & Change has proved to be gravely mortal.

It's not the best time for the president to be hobnobbing with the wealthy and influential on a secluded estate in Martha's Vineyard -- especially when he's still railing against corporate barons and private jets.

But President Obama has made his choice. This is where he wants to be and this is when he wants to be there. Indeed, in these hard times he's chosen one of the cushiest places on earth.

Bad Economic News Triggers Stock Plunge

The stock market is slipping rapidly -- again -- on some really bad economic news.
More Americans than forecast filed applications for jobless claims last week, suggesting that the labor market is struggling two years into the economic recovery. Claims jumped by 9,000 to 408,000 in the week ended Aug. 13. That's the the highest number in a month.
Inflation also seems to be on the horizon and double-dip recession fears are in the news again.
Here's how Joachim Fels, who co-heads Morgan Stanley's global economics team puts it:  "Our revised forecasts show the US and the euro area hovering dangerously close to a recession — defined as two consecutive quarters of contraction — over the next 6-12 months."
And all this is happening as President Obama begins his vacation on Mahtha's Vineyahd.
