Some Now Hope Hillary Will Challenge Obama

Some Democrats are now expressing more than buyer's remorse over President Obama.
And they're doing more than simply biting their elbows.
They're beginning to hope -- aloud -- that Hillary Clinton will actually jump into the 2012 presidential race and challenge Obama from within his own party. They're hoping against hope that this will happen. They feel that betrayed, that desperate.
Here's a snippet from a story in London's Telegraph:

Gary Pearce, a Democratic strategist in North Carolina, a swing state Mr Obama is likely to struggle to retain in 2012, said: "Democrats are worried. He looks weak, he doesn't say anything that grabs you, and people are looking for some kind of magic."
He said some activists were asking "do we need someone tougher to fight the tea party?" "You see a yearning for a Bill Clinton-type approach and Hillary would reflect that. Obama is just a different political animal, he is a low-key guy," he added.
Mr Obama's approval rating has fallen dramatically since the killing of Osama bin Laden in early May, and he has failed to outline a vision for how he will improve chronic unemployment and a housing market in which one if five mortgage holders are in negative equity.
A 2012 primary challenge by Mrs Clinton is currently regarded as unlikely, but growing number of party activists and old hands are hoping that she changes her mind.

Buyer's Remorse: 'I Should Have Picked Hillary'

Yet another person comes forward expressing buyer's remorse.
Here's what Bill McClellan has to say in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
I was splashing around in Lake Michigan last week when the realization hit me like a wave — I was wrong about Barack Obama. I should have voted for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary three years ago.

War With Libya: Is Hillary Hero Or Scapegoat?

In Washington the word is that "War is Hill."
That's the clever play on words they're using to describe America's intervention in Libya which some are also calling "Hillary's War."
Yes, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did seem to be clamoring for this action.
Yes, she did seem to be disgusted with President Obama.
And yes, she did appear to make her feelings (and frustrations) known through classic Washington channels: leaks, hearsay and innuendo.
But be careful before you make Hillary the hero and target Obama as the indecisive dumbbell in all this.
We'll get back to that.*
First, however here's a snippet from the New York Post:
It's "Hillary's war."
President Obama yesterday kicked soccer balls and listened to children playing music in Rio de Janeiro as US warplanes attacked Libya in a mission being credited by some to the leadership of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"Thank God for strong women in the Obama administration," Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) said on "Fox News Sunday."
Graham, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he didn't know how many thousands of people had died in Libya before Obama took action.
"I don't know what finally got the president to act, but I'm very worried that we are taking a back seat rather than a leadership role," he said.

Clinton, who announced last week that she would quit at the end of Obama's term in 2012, has spearheaded the US response to the uprising against Libyan madman Moammar Khadafy since the rebellion began a month ago.

*Now -- back to a bit of political conjecture.
Hillary's got her name on America's newest war.
And Obama is in Latin America looking hip, cool and casual. In his eyes, no doubt he's also looking confident and in command. Nothing unsettles a man who proceeds with aplomb.
But I think there's more to this. And therein lies the potential trap for Hillary or anyone who dares mess with Obama.
Because if this effort fails, it's on Hillary. Obama & Co. will blame her. She's the culprit, they'll argue. After all, Obama wasn't fully engaged. He simply (and barely) acquiesced -- after a fashion. That's how they'll play it. So, she could go even sooner that 2012. She takes the fall. And any future political prospects that she had take a major hit. She becomes anathema to the party's left wing as well. And Obama wouldn't mind that one bit.
But if the mission succeeds -- well, then Obama takes the credit. He's the hero. He's the champion. He's the tough guy -- strong, resolute, decisive.
Remember: This guy learned at the feet of Chicago's political masters.
And with him, all things are political. ALL things.
And ultimately, it's all about him and his greater glory.
So, he'll throw anybody under the bus if he has to. To Obama, Hillary represents a credibly way out -- a believable denial. And that denial is there if he needs it.
On the other hand, if the coalition triumphs in Libya, Mr. Cool is front and center.
Count on it.

Hillary's New Boyfriend - Hint: It's NOT Obama

It's no secret that Hillary Clinton has always been attracted to strong, decisive men.
She likes the kind of guy who's ready for that 3 AM phone call -- the kind of guy who shares in the action and the passion of his times; the kind of guy who can match wits with her and other international movers and shakers.
She's attracted to a REAL leader -- someone with good instincts, sound judgment and a clear sense of himself.
She doesn't like a man who dithers or delays.
Hillary is attracted to the kind of guy who's untroubled by needless doubt and who isn't afraid to act.
In fact, experience shows that she finds real risk-takers quite appealing. She wants a go-for-it guy -- someone with boldness anchored in genuine maturity.
Which is why we were so puzzled when she went to work for Barack Obama. He just didn't seem like her type of guy.
But we suspect that Hillary always felt she was working for America -- working for us -- not Obama.
And indeed she is. For now she has shamed our listless leadership into action. She put her boss on the spot, and she won.
Of course, Hillary didn't do it alone.
She had a bit of help from her new guy pal.
Yes, Hillary's found her guy.
And it's not Obama.
Oh no, her new chum is Nicholas Sarkozy.
Now, this is a dynamic duo. Vive le France!

Hillary Disgusted With Obama And Ready To Bolt?

I love The Daily, the new i-Pad app newspaper. It's fun, informative, thorough and refreshing.
I'm a very happy subscriber and find it to be a great bargain for 99 cents per week.
Anyway, here's part of a revealing story from The Daily:
Fed up with a president “who can’t make his mind up” as Libyan rebels are on the brink of defeat, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is looking to the exits.

At the tail end of her mission to bolster the Libyan opposition, which has suffered days of losses to Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s forces, Clinton announced that she’s done with Obama after 2012 — even if he wins again.
“Obviously, she’s not happy with dealing with a president who can’t decide if today is Tuesday or Wednesday, who can’t make his mind up,” a Clinton insider told The Daily. “She’s exhausted, tired.”
He went on, “If you take a look at what’s on her plate as compared with what’s on the plates of previous Secretaries of State — there’s more going on now at this particular moment, and it’s like playing sports with a bunch of amateurs. And she doesn’t have any power. She’s trying to do what she can to keep things from imploding.”
Clinton is said to be especially peeved with the president’s waffling over how to encourage the kinds of Arab uprisings that have recently toppled regimes in Egypt and Tunisia, and in particular his refusal to back a no-fly zone over Libya.

LOL: Obama Names Clinton President

Iowa Hawk Blog has a great (and funny) column about how Bill Clinton got named President of the United States by Barak Obama. Here's part of it:
Ending weeks of speculation and rumors, President-Elect Barack Obama today named Bill Clinton to join his incoming administration as President of the United States, where he will head the federal government's executive branch.
"I am pleased that Bill Clinton has agreed to come out of retirement to head up this crucial post in my administration," said Obama. "He brings a lifetime of previous executive experience as Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and has worked closely with most of the members of my Cabinet."
Clinton said he was "excited and honored" by the appointment, and would work "day and night" to defeat all the key policy objectives proposed by Mr. Obama during the campaign.
"I am gratified that the President-Elect has entrusted me with this important responsibility," said Clinton. "I'm looking forward to getting back behind, and under, the Oval Office desk again. As I have told the President-Elect, I pledge to do whatever I can to serve his historic administration by making sure that none of that bullshit he talked about during the campaign will ever see the light of day. Americans can rest assured that he will be safely confined to the East Wing, as far away as possible from any potentially dangerous office equipment or nuclear buttons."
