Seasons 52, the highly-acclaimed fresh grill and wine bar restaurant, is set to introduce its summer menu on June 21, allowing guests to savor the fresh flavors of the season. Seasons 52 is known for its seasonally inspired menu and fresh approach to dining that meets the demands of today’s culinary-savvy consumers. This “right for the times” concept (at nearby Cherry Hill Mall and King of Prussia Mall) offers guests a complete dining experience with great tasting food that offers positive lifestyle benefits.

“Summer brings a bounty of fresh produce Seasons 52 will use to create unique, exciting dishes ideal for warm-weather dining,“ said Cliff Pleau, Senior Director of Culinary. “The crisp, bright flavors of sweet corn, ripe blueberries, and juicy tomatoes are some of the prominently featured ingredients on Season 52’s new summer menu, in addition to freshly caught fish such as snapper and halibut.”

During the summer season, guests will enjoy new items such as:

• BLT Flatbread – crispy applewood bacon, organic arugula and tricolored organic tomatoes oven-baked on a flatbread, finished with basil sour cream

• Organic Tomato Tapenade – three-color organic tomatoes roasted with green and black olive tapenade topped with shaved parmesan

• Summer Basil & Parmesan Crispbread – classic parmesan crisp bread loaded with fresh summer basil

• Grilled Pacific Wild Halibut – served over sweet corn risotto with haricots vert in a spicy tomato broth

• Fieldale Farms All-Natural BBQ Chicken –with Yukon Gold garlic mashed potatoes and fresh roasted corn salad

• Grilled Red Snapper Piperade – marinated in achiote, served over jicama piperade and braised black beans

• Grilled Lemongrass Salmon Salad – organic greens, roasted corn, jicama and roasted red peppers

• Blueberry Cheesecake Mini Indulgence – double-crusted New York-style cheesecake with blueberry sauce and fresh berries

A new cocktail will also be featured this summer – the Strawberry Coconut Skinny Martini, a delicious blend of Strawberry Infused Prairie Vodka, coconut water and agave nectar that has fewer calories than drinks made with coconut cream.

Master Sommelier George Miliotes will also add Lioco Rose to his “Drink These Before They Become Famous” list of handpicked, must-try wines for the season. The nearby Cheecake Factory has been hugely successful in Cherry Hill and is said to be one of the best-grossing Cheescake Factory restaurants in the entire country. The place almost always has a waiting line.
So, it's logical that the same company would want to capitalize on this success and come in with another equally-successful restaurant.

Rare Treat: Seasons 52's Copper River Salmon!

Seasons 52, the highly-acclaimed fresh grill and wine bar restaurant, is providing guests with a prized seasonal offering of one of the world’s best-tasting and nutritious varieties of wild salmon – Copper River Salmon. and Seasons 52 restaurants at the Cherry Hill Mall and King of Prussia Mall locations are participating in this offering.

A Cherry Blossom Spectacle To Rival The Best!

The Cherry blossoms are in vivid bloom along Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill, N. J.

Get on over to Chapel Avenue this week or you'll miss them.
And, trust me, you don't want to miss this!

Along a dazzling two mile stretch from Haddonfield Road to Kings Highway the blossoms create bright ribbons of pink. Through the day the color varies slightly as the sun and the clouds help to create a feast for the eyes. And the blossoms vary somewhat by shading and color depending upon whether you are moving east or west along Chapel Avenue.

Walking under the blossoms along the sidewalk on either side of the street is a sensual delight.

But this incredible show only lasts for a week or two so you must hurry if you want to see some of the most magnificent clustered blossoms anywhere.
The blossoms were the brainchild of Joe Zanghi, a visionary Cherry Hill resident who began planting them decades ago. They are a true labor of love -- a gift to the entire community and the region.
These are huge, fancy, clustered blossoms.

Drive slowly, cycle or walk under the blossoms and soak up every magical moment!

Remember The Hawaiian Cottage In Cherry Hill?

Once upon a time there was a tropical paradise in the middle of sprawling suburbia.
It boasted the allure of the islands right alongside a major highway.
It beckoned diners to pull right up (in their Buicks, Oldmobiles, Chevys and an occasional Cadillac) to the land of palms and coconuts. And it all happened in New Jersey.
With Cherry Hill, NJ (formerly Delaware Township) beginning to celebrate its 50th anniversary as Cherry Hill, here's a fond look back at one of the alluring landmarks that helped put Cherry Hill on the map.
The Hawaiian Cottage on Route 38 was part Coconut Grove, part Polynesian playground, part banquet hall and part continental restaurant -- a restaurant that even served Italian dishes, including ravioli. Imagine: ravioli under indoor palm trees and alongside a giant pineapple that served as a gift shop.
The Hawaiian Cottage was open from 1938 till 1958 when it was destroyed by fire.
It was never rebuilt.

We were joined by our dear friends from Anne Klein Communications Group, from left: Robert Johnson, Chris Lukash and the inimitable Anne Klein. 

We enjoyed seeing so many friends from the superb Seasons 52 staff.

Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt's Proud Legacy

Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt called me earlier today to tell me that he would not seek re-election this year.
As he enters his last year of public service, the mayor is also thanking everyone who has supported him over the years
By now, the news about Bernie's decision is on the Courier-Post web site and other web sites and probably on the air as well.
But here's a story you may not know: Even though many conjectured that this might be Bernie's last term, the mayor was fully prepared to run again. His love for the town is such that he would probably like nothing more than to continue to serve.
 Service defines this man. And be sure of this: Bernie Platt's service to Cherry Hill was -- and remains -- a labor of love.
His interest in the town, its people and its well-being transcends party politics, personalities, power plays and petty grievances. There was not a time when residences went to him with a concern that he was not available or that he did not try to help.
Bernie is very real. He's a sentimental man -- a man who's comfortable with his own feelings and sentiments.
And his love for Cherry Hill is exceeded only by his love for his family.
So, he has chosen not to make another run so that he can spend more time with his family.
That's fine. Because, Bernie Platt can be very proud of what he's accomplished.
Look at Bernie's record of service: He served for many years on the town council and was mayor from 1979 to 1980, and deputy mayor from 1976 to 1979. He was a Camden County freeholder from 1996 to 1998 and since 2004, he's served as Mayor.
If you want to know what this man's legacy is, just look at the renaissance on the west side of town -- Cherry Hill's gateway. The Garden State Park and Cherry Hill Mall areas have witnessed more than a quarter of a billion dollars in private investment during Bernie's time in office -- and much of this occurred during a so-called economic "downturn." It's astounding.
With Bernie's guidance, Cherry Hill has reinvented itself.
And this is just one aspect of his legacy of service.
Bernie can take pride in the fact that his beloved hometown remains the economic center of South Jersey -- a great place to live, work and enjoy life.
I've known Bernie since he first served in public office. He never deceived me. He kept his word. He cared deeply, worked tirelessly and accomplished greatly while retaining his own sense of dignity and modesty.  That's rare -- and refreshing!
What more could anyone ask of a public figure?

Cherry Hill Aims To Slash Trash Costs

Cherry Hill has joined forces with Gloucester Township, Voorhees and Merchantville with the hope of slashing the cost of trash disposal, Mayor Bernie Platt announced Thursday.

It’s the Township’s latest effort to streamline municipal services while saving significant taxpayer money.

The four towns – in partnership with the Cherry Hill Fire Department and Board of Education – are going out to the marketplace in the coming weeks in search of a new contract for trash-disposal services.

“Together, our towns account for nearly one-third of Camden County’s total population and total single-family homes,” Mayor Bernie Platt said. “Our towns span nearly 60 square miles; we serve almost 171,000 residents, and 61,400 households. That’s a lot of business – and we’re here to send a message: If you want that business, you’d better bring down our costs.”

Under the current pricing structure, Cherry Hill pays about $1.3 million in incinerator fees each year to dispose of approximately 23,000 tons of solid waste. Platt estimated that this deal could reduce that dollar amount by up to $250,000.

Officials said they hope to begin realizing that savings this summer.

Platt noted that this partnership is the largest of its kind undertaken in South Jersey – and is among the largest in the state. In terms of the number of households served, it trumps even a similar partnership announced late last year involving the Township’s trash-collection contract. In that case, Cherry Hill, Gloucester Township and Merchantville, saw a combined cost-reduction of nearly $3 million; some $2 million in savings went to Cherry Hill alone.

Platt cited this new partnership as just the latest example of Cherry Hill working with other government agencies to share services and streamline costs. The Township has other existing shared service agreements with Merchantville, Haddonfield, Gloucester Township, the Cherry Hill Schools and Fire Department, and Camden County.

“It’s been said many times: Government simply cannot continue operating under the old way of doing business,” Platt said. “We need to work together and share our resources to cut our operational costs.”

He added: “In that regard, I don’t believe in just ‘talking the talk.’ As a municipality, we need to also ‘walk that walk’ – and I think Cherry Hill and our partners have continually set the bar high in that regard.”

'Cherry Hill' - The Magical Name That Changed Everything

This entire portion of the Mall has since been replaced by the dazzling new Nordstrom wing and the Mall itself has been transformed into a premier, modern-day shopping and dining destination. The Mall and the town remain virtually synonymous.

Cherry Hill.
For nearly 50 years that name has retained a magic.
Mention Cherry Hill anywhere in America and people invariably say they know about it. And, more often than not, they mention the Cherry Hill Mall.
The Mall is a certified American landmark. When it opened in October, 1961 it marked a milestone: The first and largest enclosed shopping mall east of the Mississippi. It was joyously welcomed as a tropical paradise.
The Mall (and the Cherry Hill Inn, Garden State Park, and other kitschy landmarks like the Hawaiian Cottage) put Cherry Hill on the map. Those other landmarks are long gone.
But here's the incredible part of the story: The Mall has not only survived; it has thrived.
It's newer, more hip, and busier than ever. And for Cherry Hill, after half a century the Mall is still the jewel in the crown.
Our dear friend Kevin Riordan has a beautiful feature story in today's Philadelphia Inquirer about the town, the Mall and the legacy and magic of Cherry Hill.

Ballyhooed as a "tropical paradise," the enclosed shopping center at the old Jaus Farm on Route 38 was among the first of its kind in America.
"The Cherry Hill Mall," longtime resident Dan Cirucci recalls, "changed this region forever."
The promotional fervor (or fever) was understandable. With a snazzy array of indoor stores, acres of free parking, and "Golden Aviary" of exotic birds, the mall siphoned shoppers from downtown Camden and Philadelphia. And it helped put the freshly renamed township, which will mark its golden anniversary as Cherry Hill this year, on the map.
Cirucci, who grew up in Camden, says the mall "lent a luster" to what had long been called Delaware Township. "People wanted to be in Cherry Hill. Everything was new."

Cherry Hill Boasts Searchable Township Database

Residents in Cherry Hill, New Jersey now have first-hand access to more than 150 years of municipal ordinances and resolutions, thanks to the launch of the Township’s first Web-based, searchable archive system, Mayor Bernie Platt has announced.

Located on the Township’s Web site, www.CherryHill-NJ.com, this searchable repository gives residents the ability to browse local laws dating back to 1844 – the year the municipality was founded, as Delaware Township.

“Throughout my tenure as Mayor, one of my main priorities has been moving the Township further into the 21^st century; leveraging new technology to make Town Hall more accessible to the more than 70,000 people who call Cherry Hill their home,” Platt said.

With a few clicks of the mouse, residents, businesses and historians alike can take a trip back in time, through more than a century of governance in Cherry Hill. Whether they’re looking at a resolution from 1844 establishing a fund to pay for sheep killed by dogs, or they’re searching for the most up-to-date noise regulations, visitors to this site can see where the Township has been and where it’s going.

This comprehensive database will be updated with new ordinances and resolutions after each Township Council meeting, generally held the second and fourth Monday of each month, so residents have access to the most updated information possible.

Visitors to the site should note that resolutions from 1935 to 1986 are not available at this time, but will be added in the near future.

With Nordstrom thriving in Cherry Hill at the beautifully re-imagined Cherry Hill Mall it makes sense that Nordstron Rack would also want to be in South Jersey.
And now our spies tell us that Nordstrom Rack will open May 5 on Haddonfield Road at the booming Garden State Park shpopping/dining and entertainment mecca.
The word is that Nordstrom Rack will open in the storefront, ground-level portion of one of the distinctive new offices buildings at Garden State, near the center's Grand Plaza.
Nordstrom Rack will join a choice lineup that includes Barnes & Noble, The Talbotts, J Jill, Joseph A. Bank, Coldwater Creek, Cheesecake Factory, Brio, McCormick & Schmick and many others.

Cheesecake Factory Remains A Huge Favorite

Some people call it a "diner on steroids."
But if you've ever really dined at The Cheesecake Factory, you know it ain't no diner. It's a zippy, up-to-the-minute, full service restaurant and hoppin bar that's ready to serve you just about anything you crave. And, ohhhh -- that cheesecake!
Of course, it's a branded chain. But lest you think that every Cheesecake Factory is totally the same, you're wrong. Yes, they all maintain high standards. They all attract large crowds. They all provide great service. And they all serve real, honest-to-goodness tasty food. But beyond the delightful architectural whimsy of every Cheesecake Factory, you'll find real people who make the whole operation tick. And it's the staff people who make every Cheesecake Factory unique.
We particularly like the staff at The Cheesecake Factory at Garden State Park in Cherry Hill (NJ).
Under the able direction of genial General Manager Kevin Johnson, this operation hums like a finely-tuned instrument. Though it's a very busy place, the wait staff has time for each and every customer and every member of the staff seems to go out of his or her way to satisfy. As you return, the staff not only remembers you but they remember your preferences and desires.
And often, Kevin himself will circulate to greet the many diners and find out if your satisfied.
One final note: Many people seem to think that the only reason to go to the Cheesecake Factory (beyond the cheesecake, of course) is gargantuan portions. Well, you can have the giant portions if you want. They're still on the menu. But there are also many smaller plates, half portions and special offerings that won't overwhelm you. You'll be surprised at all the options. And the restaurant is always ready to meet your special requests.
Great food. Reasonable prices. Endless choices. Terrific staff. You can't beat it!

Get Outa The Cold And Into The Mall

We wanted to walk.
We wanted to people-watch.
We wanted to see beautiful things and connect with the world.
We wanted to taste, savor, gaze and (maybe) shop.
So we headed on over to the Cherry Hill Mall.
The floors were gleaming. The skylights above welcomed the sun and the blue skies. And in the stores, seasonal merchandise was significantly reduced while spring and summer items (many also reduced, ahead of season) gave us a taste of the warmer seasons to come.
We saw so many young families and children and neighbors and a fair share of fashionistas as well.
And we felt absolutely invigorated.
The Mall is teeming and more new stores are on the way. In fact, we hear rumors that a major, ultra designer clothier will soon open in the wing adjoining Nordstrom. And don't be surprised if this year and next bring even more new restaurants along that tempting new bistro row that fronts the Mall.
Get out from under your snuggie. C'mon -- head on over to the Mall.

Cherry Hill Township: Ready For Storm

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly (NJ) has issued a winter storm warning for the South Jersey area, effective until 1 p.m. Monday. Accumulations of 7 to 12 inches are expected in South Jersey, along with strong winds that could reach gusts up to 40 mph overnight.
Forecasters are projecting the storm to begin by 11 a.m. today and end by 9 a.m. Monday. Blowing, drifting snow is expected, with greatly reduced visibility at times.
Residents should avoid travel for the duration of the storm.
Cherry Hill Township (NJ) Public Works crews reported for duty early Sunday morning, and will begin treating municipal roads as precipitation begins to fall. Administrative staff is on-hand to take calls. Township emergency personnel are also on-hand to respond to any emergency situation.
To report any weather-related issue – including fallen trees and limbs – call Public Works at (856) 424-4422. Power outages should be reported to PSE&G by calling (800) 436 7734.
  Cherry Hill offers the following tips to help you prepare for this impending storm:
• Apply de-icer to steps and sidewalks at the storm’s onset, to prevent moisture from freezing over.
• Salt is most effective when applied as soon as a light accumulation has developed – it will make it easier to shovel and will prevent a layer of ice from forming.
• Check on any sick or elderly neighbors.
• Keep pets indoors and warm for the duration of the storm.
• Please park your car(s) off-street as much as possible, to allow Township snow plows and salt trucks the most access to the roads.
• Wait until your street has been plowed to shovel snow from your driveway apron.
• Report and avoid downed trees and power lines.
• Remember that municipal code requires that snow be removed from residential and business sidewalks and parking lots within 24 hours of the storm’s end.

Cherry Hill Leads Way In Services Consolidation

In October, Cherry Hill (NJ) put a landmark joint-purchasing agreement out into the marketplace that included five separate government entities and encompassed more than 45,000 homes. Now, the results are in, and the Township, Gloucester Township, Merchantville Borough, the Cherry Hill School District and the Cherry Hill Fire Department have realized a savings of about 10 percent across the board on their trash services – a clear victory for shared-services and for the taxpayer.
“Our message was clear: We went out to the marketplace and told these contractors to sharpen their pencils to get our collective business,” Mayor Bernie Platt said. “Acting as a single entity, we were able to leverage economies of scale to realize a substantial savings over the course of this new contract.”
“There is no question in my mind that this shared-service experiment was a success; we’ve secured the absolute best price for the taxpayer,” Platt added.
This was the largest residential solid waste and recyclable materials collection pickup and disposal bid in South Jersey, and just the latest example of Cherry Hill working with other government agencies to share services and consolidate costs. Currently, the Township has existing shared service agreements with Merchantville, Haddonfield, Gloucester Township, the Cherry Hill Schools, and Camden County.
