Video: Look Up Marilyn's Dress; OooohhLaLa!

A New Jersey artist who is famous for his real life sculptures has created a giant Marilyn Monroe that now graces the magnificent mile in Chicago.
Chicagoans are not quite sure what to make of the massive public work of art which will be on display through next spring.
Maryilyn is depicted in the iconic pose (with that famous plunging neckline/pleated bottom dress) from the movie The Seven Year Itch. The J. Seward Johnson sculpture is attracting its share of gawkers -- including many tourists and men who enjoy having their photos taken between MM's legas, looking straight up.
Marilyn is 26 feet high so (just as she was in life) she's hard to miss.

Jesse Jackson Hit With Gay Harassment Charge

NBC Chicago is leading with a bombshell story about a reported lawsuit by a former employee of  Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Push Coalition. Apparently, the gay employee charges (among other things) that Jackson propositioned him.
Here's an excerpt from the story:
A former employee of the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. at the Rainbow Push Coalition has filed a bombshell wrongful termination and discrimination complaint against the civil rights leader with the City of Chicago's Commission on Human Rights.
The complaint, filed sometime last year by Tommy R. Bennett, a regular on the Tom Joyner Radio show and member of Barack Obama's LGBT Leadership Council, includes shocking allegations about Jackson's behavior toward the openly gay staffer including an allegation that the civil rights leader propositioned him.
Jackson has denied the allegations in a legal response that was filed in July 2010 and resurfaced when the Windy City Times published a story Tuesday.

Live Sex Demonstration Troubles University Chief

Statement by Northwestern University President Morton Shapiro:
I have recently learned of the after-class activity associated with Prof. Michael Bailey’s Human Sexuality class, and I am troubled and disappointed by what occurred.Although the incident took place in an after-class session that students were not required to attend and students were advised in advance, several times, of the explicit nature of the activity, I feel it represented extremely poor judgment on the part of our faculty member. I simply do not believe this was appropriate, necessary or in keeping with Northwestern University’s academic mission.
Northwestern faculty members engage in teaching and research on a wide variety of topics, some of them controversial. That is the nature of a university. However, in this instance, I have directed that we investigate fully the specifics of this incident, and also clarify what constitutes appropriate pedagogy, both in this instance and in the future.
Many members of the Northwestern community are disturbed by what took place on our campus. So am I.

Live Sex Toy Demonstration On College Campus

Northwestern University has now acknowledged that during a live sex toy demonstration on its campus last week students observed a naked woman being penetrated by a sex toy.
And get this: The demonstration followed a psychology professor's human sexuality class.
Though attendance was optional, about 100 students stayed on for the live sex demonstration said to be conducted by Faith Kroll and her fiance, Jim Marcus
Reportedly, the demonstration was conducted using "a machine-powered saw with a phallic object instead of a blade."  The Chicago Tribune said the couple are "exhibitionists" and that they enjoy having people watch them have sex.
The "guest lecturer" who spoke to the professor's class on the topic and who appears to have been the catalyst for the demonstration that followed will reportedly be paid several hundred dollars by the university's College of Arts and Sciences.
Here's the way the psychology professor explained this to the Tribune:
“The students find the events to be quite valuable, typically, because engaging real people in conversation provides useful examples and extensions of concepts students learn about in traditional academic ways.”
Conversation?
Oh, is that what they call it now?

Did Michelle Obama Violate Election Law?

Did Michelle Obama violate the election law during her recent visit to a polling place?
Well, maybe in most of the rest of the country she did.
But no, not in Chicgao.
In fact, the Chicago Board of  Election said it will file no complaints against Michelle Obama even though she reportedly urged individual voters to support candidates aligned with her husband while she was in a polling place. The First Lady was there to cast her own vote as part of early voting.
Here's what the law states:
“No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place, within 100 feet of any polling place …”
But the Board of Election says it has not received a single complaint about Mrs. Obama's activities.

Obama Says 'Don't Quit!' But Is Anybody Listening?

President Obama tells the American people: "Now is not the time to quit."
But the president better start using that language on his own staff.
Because the President's top players are all bailing on him.
Budget chief Peter Orszag walked out on him.
Chief economist Christina Romer said "BuhhhhBye!"
Key adviser Larry Summers is slipping out the door and bck to the cozy confines of Hahhhvahhd,
And now chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has taken advantage of this week's swift breezes to head back to the windy city to run for Mayor.
Next one to bail? Why it's none other that communications guru David Axelrod who says he will leave in the new year.
Except for the Svengali-like Valerie Jarrett that accounts for most of  Obama's inside circle. Gone, gone, gone, gone and gone. Not exactly the mark of stability -- or certitude.
And the last thing we need in this economic climate is a wobbly White House staff and more uncertainty.
So, here's a message to our Dear Leader: get your own house in order and then we can talk about not "quitting."
