GQ Calls Eagles and Phillies Fans Worst In America

Well, here we go again. Another notable publication has called Philly sports fans the worst in America. This year GQ drew the short straw. Here's the link.

And now, as a Philly Sports Fan of 30-plus years, there's only one way of approaching this. A open letter to the writer of this wonderful piece of bird cage lining.

Dear Adam Winer,

You are an idiot.

Much like a lemming, you have fallen off the same cliff as many other journalists who have absolutely no clue about what goes down in the City of Brotherly Love. They all say the same thing. "Philly's mean. They booed Santa Claus and cheered Michael Irvin when he went out on a stretcher."

Blah. Blah. Blah.

This stuff has really gotten old. These things happened decades ago. Decades! So the morons who purposely vommit on little girls and stupid kids who run on baseball fields only to get tasered are new. But that only goes to show you that idiots hog the limelight.

You should know.

Philly fans may tend to overreact, but we're passionate, not mean. We know our sports and we demand excellence. It's a blue collar town that appreciates hard-working, grind-it-out players and calls out lollygaggers who phone it in.

You know, like you did with your assumptions on one of the greatest sports towns in America.

Reid Can't Give Philly Fans What They Deserve

So, once again Andy Reid can't seem to direct the Eagles across the finish line in the Big Game.
And, yet again Reid and his Eagles have disappointed the fans. Again!
How long will it take for this to be clear: Andy Reid must go.
Flashback: Here's what I wrote two years ago after the same type of situation.

Here's the bottom line: You can't keep losing the Big Games and expect people to take you seriously.

When you lose four times in five conference title games, something's wrong. And don't forget that for three of those games the Eagles were favorites.

This was a pitiful loss.

It was unforgivable -- unforgivable to do this to the fans who have come back again and again and again and again and, yes . . . AGAIN only to be disappointed.

It simply cannot go on like this.

It cannot stand.

Let's put it this way: If I supported a candidate or a political party and we suffered losses over and over and over and over in the Big Contest, I'd demand that the party change leadership; undergo a complete and total overhaul. Otherwise, I'd walk away.

Hey, I'm capable of tremendous loyalty and I ain't afraid of losing.

But losing ain't fun - especially when you're teased and your team or party or candidate loses the big game or the big race. This is dysfunctional. It's unhealthy. It's near pathological.

Reid must go.

In fact, [those responsible for this loss] were at all decent about it they'd simply submit their resignations. They failed.

You can analyze it all you want. And, you can make all the excuses you want.

And it's true that Reid & Co. gave us some great thrills.

Still, no matter how many games they won or how many times they came back, there's only one way to describe them now: LOSERS!
