Video: Christie On How To Remember September 11

Leave it to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to articulate the true meaning of September 11 as he explains the ways in which we can all remember those who were lost. I urge you to watch the entirety of the Governor's relatively brief comments.
This is a man who knows what his priorities are. This is a man with a keen knowledge of human sensibilities and the human condition -- a man with a heart, soul and genuine passion.
Rarely have I heard the meaning of that infamous day expressed so simply, so clearly, so eloquently.

Eleven Things You Need To Remember About 9/11

It's sad but true: As the years go by, September 11 will recede from memory.
People who were alive on 9/11/01 will pass away. And those born years from now will have to rely on the stories and recollections of others or whatever winds up in the history books.
Given that secondary recollections are not always reliable and considering that history books have been sanitized by political correctness, we all need to begin to embrace a core set of 9/11 truths now -- things that we need to remember and pass on to future generations.
With that in mind, here (in no particular order) are 11 things you need to remember about September 11:
1) September 11 is better termed an atrocity than a tragedy. When you hear people refer to the events of that day as "tragic," correct them. Tell them what happened was atrocious, unconscionable and unforgivable.
2) The attack of September 11 was an affront to all human sensibility. The attack was an act of pure evil. And yes -- there is evil in the world.
3) Those who attacked our nation on September 11 want to annihilate all of us and destroy our very way of life. They are still active and their goals have not changed.
4) Thanks in large part to the policies put in place and the actions taken by President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, there has been no direct attack on our nation since 9/11/01.
5) Those who attacked America were and are cowards. They hide from others; they operate in darkness or under disguise; they run and they plan their dastardly acts in secret.
6) The victims of September 11 are not martyrs. Rather, they are heroes. They were innocent people living everyday lives and pursuing everyday dreams. To the extent they were able to, they struggled to survive and reached out to help others.
7) The heroic first responders who rushed in to help on that day and beyond exemplify the pinnacle of bravery, honor and self sacrifice. They are patriots.
8) In the words of President Bush: "Whether we bring our enemies to justice or justice to our enemies, justice will be done." This must remain our goal and our mission from September 11, onward.
9) September 11 constituted the worst attack ever ever perpetrated on American soil by a foreign enemy. It was unprecedented.
10) The loss, the anguish, the horror of September 11 lives on among the survivors and among the families and friends of the victims. Lives were forever changed that day.
11) Spirituality was, is and will always be a part of our response as Americans to that infamous day. Your steadfast commitment to honor the solemn memory of September 11, to seek justice and to comfort those who still suffer must be accompanied by prayer and reflection. Remember. Reaffirm. Renew.

Bloomberg Insists: NO Clergy At 9/11 Commemoration

New York Mayor Michael (The Imperious One) Bloomberg insists there be NO clergy at the event in lower Manhattan commemorating the tenth anniversary of September 11.
As you  might expect, he's come in for a lot of criticism over this. But he's not backing down.
It turns out that keeping this man in office is looking more and more like a dreadful mistake. As he has assumed more power he has become increasingly dictatorial. It's scary.
Here's an excerpt from a Fox News story:
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will not reconsider his decision to exclude clergy from the ceremony marking 10 years since the Sept. 11 attacks, a spokesman said Friday.
The statement comes despite increased pressure from religious and conservative leaders who say that even though the mayor has not allowed clergy at other services, he should make an exception this time.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said Americans "turned to God for solace" after the 2001 attacks, and clergy were intimately involved in helping the nation heal.
"Unfortunately, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg would have us look the other way," Perkins said in a statement.

The 9/11 Great Escape As Celebrity Road Trip

Did three of the world's biggest stars take a post-9/11 road trip into the heart of America?
Were they really cooped up in a hired car together for 500 miles and did they really stop at every Burger King and KFC along the way on an endless junk food binge?
Was New Jersey really their first stop?
And was Ohio their final destination?
It's a story that seems just incredible enough to be true: That Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson and Marlon Brando fled the Big Apple the day after September 11 and embarked on a combination Great Escape and Celebrity Road Trip - together!

NO 'Victory Laps" On Sacred Ground

A Facebook friend writes:
Many of you may disagree, friends, but I think the 'celebration' planned for Ground Zero tomorrow is inappropriate and inconsiderate. The only 'events' I will ever attend related to the horrors of 9/11/2001 will be the somber services of prayer and remembrance. Civil comments are welcome, as always.
I totally agree.
There should be no "celebrations" and no "victory laps" on sacred ground. Not now. Not ever.

Bush Declines Obama's 'Victory Lap' Invite

President George W. Bush will mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 in September but he will not be going to the World Trade Center site in Manhattan with President Obama tomorrow.
Here's an excerpt from the story as reported by The Daily Beast and MSNBC:
Former President George W. Bush has declined President Obama’s invitation to jointly visit Ground Zero on Thursday. “President Bush will not be in attendance on Thursday,” his spokesman told The New York Times. “He appreciated the invite, but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight. He continues to celebrate with Americans this important victory in the war on terror.”

Whoopi And Joy Turn Sour, Walk Off 'View' Set

Colby Hall over at MEDIAite has a powerful story about Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Gehar walking off the set of The View this morning during a sparring match over the Ground Zero mosque with Bill O'Reilly:
Bill O’Reilly was a guest on The View today to promote his new Pinheads and Patriots book and the discussion got really, really heated over the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque” debate. At one point co-host Whoopi Goldberg exclaimed to O’Reilly “that is such bullsh*t” before she and Joy Behar walked off the set in protest, before coming back to finish the show.
