Israelis Demonstrate Against Obama
President Obama has been trying to backtrack from his controversial remarks regarding Israel and the Mideast peace process but it isn't working
It isn't working here in the US and it certainly isn't working in Israel.
This kind of thing seems to happen all the time with Obama -- he makes out-of-the-mainstream, provocative, even controversial remarks and then tries to back away.
But here's the bottom line: Many of his view really ARE rooted in radical beliefs and policies.
So, while he doesn't always want to reveal these fringe underpinnings, they eventually emerge. The funny thing about the latest go round is that it came on the heels of what was considered an Obama foreign policy triumph -- the killing of Osama bin Laden.
So, the big step forward in foreign policy was followed by two steps backward: The Israel inmbrogiio; the near-abandonment of one of our more fearless and most trusted allies.
Anyway, back in Israel, people are definately not amused.

While Barack Obama presented the mild version of his Mideast speech before a Jewish audience in Washington, hundreds of activists gathered across from the US embassy in Tel Aviv in protest of the American president's foreign policy.
Roughly 300 people took part in the demonstration, which was organized by My Israel, a national Zionist movement. They carried rope in their hands and around their necks, chanting: "Obama, Israel won't commit suicide." It was their response to the principles presented by Obama on Thursday, which lead to a reported rift between him and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"It seems like Obama cannot differentiate between allies and enemies," said Rafi Trablesi, one of the movement's leaders. "I want to remind him that Israel is an ally of the United States, and that he should act like it."

When he was asked by CNBC's Jane Wells what he thought about President Obama's suggestion that Israel's borders be redrawn to pre-1967 levels, Kiss star Gene Simmons replied, "He has no f--king idea what the world is like because he doesn’t have to live there"
Simmons says he supported Obama for President because he "voted for an idea" but didn't realize he was voteing "for an idealist."

War With Libya: Is Hillary Hero Or Scapegoat?
In Washington the word is that "War is Hill."
That's the clever play on words they're using to describe America's intervention in Libya which some are also calling "Hillary's War."
Yes, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did seem to be clamoring for this action.
Yes, she did seem to be disgusted with President Obama.
And yes, she did appear to make her feelings (and frustrations) known through classic Washington channels: leaks, hearsay and innuendo.
But be careful before you make Hillary the hero and target Obama as the indecisive dumbbell in all this.
We'll get back to that.*

Hillary's got her name on America's newest war.
And Obama is in Latin America looking hip, cool and casual. In his eyes, no doubt he's also looking confident and in command. Nothing unsettles a man who proceeds with aplomb.
But I think there's more to this. And therein lies the potential trap for Hillary or anyone who dares mess with Obama.
Because if this effort fails, it's on Hillary. Obama & Co. will blame her. She's the culprit, they'll argue. After all, Obama wasn't fully engaged. He simply (and barely) acquiesced -- after a fashion. That's how they'll play it. So, she could go even sooner that 2012. She takes the fall. And any future political prospects that she had take a major hit. She becomes anathema to the party's left wing as well. And Obama wouldn't mind that one bit.
But if the mission succeeds -- well, then Obama takes the credit. He's the hero. He's the champion. He's the tough guy -- strong, resolute, decisive.
Remember: This guy learned at the feet of Chicago's political masters.
And with him, all things are political. ALL things.
And ultimately, it's all about him and his greater glory.
So, he'll throw anybody under the bus if he has to. To Obama, Hillary represents a credibly way out -- a believable denial. And that denial is there if he needs it.
On the other hand, if the coalition triumphs in Libya, Mr. Cool is front and center.
Count on it.

President Obama yesterday kicked soccer balls and listened to children playing music in Rio de Janeiro as US warplanes attacked Libya in a mission being credited by some to the leadership of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"Thank God for strong women in the Obama administration," Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) said on "Fox News Sunday."
Graham, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he didn't know how many thousands of people had died in Libya before Obama took action.
"I don't know what finally got the president to act, but I'm very worried that we are taking a back seat rather than a leadership role," he said.

Momentum. That's what the people of Egypt have now, and that's what is going to guarantee that real change is accomplished.
I look back at the revolution in Romania, and the effect of timid steps after such monumental change. It took nearly a decade to bleed out the communists that slithered back into the new government.
The point is that the momentum and the appetite for change that are being felt in Egypt right now are going to help steel the people against the creeping feeling of insecurity that comes from not having someone in charge.
It's far worse to draw things out, to allow astute political players that made up the Mubarak regime to re-institute themselves in positions of power, or to allow any number of organized groups take hold of the government.
Anything that happens now must have the blessing of the Egyptian crowds; anything that comes later will be greased by the rising fear of uncertainty.
And if the outcome is not what we would hope, so be it. It'd time the word "we" disappeared from the Egypt debate. It's their fight, and it's their freedom. Let them decide.
Huckabee: Let Israelis Build In East Jerusalem
The Jerusalem Post reports that "during a visit to the Mount of Olives for a cornerstone-laying ceremony in a Jewish east Jerusalem neighborhood, likely US presidential candidate Mike Huckabee asserted that Israelis should be able to live "anywhere in Israel they wished to live."
"It is inconceivable in many ways that we would have to even argue and debate whether or not Israelis could live in Israel, not just in parts of Israel but anywhere in Israel they wished to live," Huckabee added.

Liberals Chastise Obama On Egypt Policy
The liberal New Republic has not-so-kind words for President Obama and his policies and actions so far in response to the crisis in Egypt. In fact, NR seems to almost long for a return to the George W. Bush policy of democratization.
The magazine's Leon Wieseltier writes:
The bizarre irony of Obama’s global multiculturalism is that it has had the effect of aligning America with regimes and against peoples. This was the case with our response to the Iranian rebellion in 2009, and it was the case with our response to the Egyptian opposition until a few hours ago. The striking thing about Barack Obama’s “extended hand” is how utterly irrelevant it is to the epochal events in Egypt, and Tunisia, and Iran, and elsewhere.
