St. Anthony's Calling With Meatballs For You!

 Calling All Anthony's!
Were you born an “Anthony”?
Perhaps you married into the “Anthony” family?
In honor of St. Anthony’s Day, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza (ACFP) will give away a FREE order of Anthony’s Meatballs with Ricotta Cheese on Monday, June 13 to anyone with the first or last name of “Anthony” at all 27 locations nation-wide.
Growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y., ACFP Founder Anthony Bruno always celebrated St. Anthony’s Feast Day with his father, Anthony Sr. “My grandmother would prepare my favorite meatballs for me every year,” he recalled. “This is my way of honoring that family tradition, as well as St. Anthony himself.” St. Anthony of Padua was the patron saint of the poor and one of the most famous disciples of St. Francis of Assisi. The Catholic Church observes the date of his death, June 13, as the Feast Day of St. Anthony to commemorate his life and works. "Calling All Anthonys” is available for dine-in customers only. Proper identification is required. One free order of meatballs per party.
Known for its high-energy atmosphere and signature menu items, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza uses 800-degree anthracite coal-burning ovens and the highest quality ingredients. Anthracite is known to be the “cleanest” of coals, burning smoke free with extremely high heat. In addition to its famous pizzas, the restaurant’s simple and consistent menu features award-winning coal-oven-roasted chicken wings topped with grilled onions and Italian-style salad, as well as other Italian specialties.
Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza’s food and service have continually been ranked “very good to excellent” by Zagat Survey, the distinguished dining and entertainment ratings guide and is a “Top Restaurant” in Zagat’s 2010 Miami/South Florida edition. Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza was voted Best Pizza in South Florida by readers of The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, The Miami Herald, Miami.com and The Palm Beach Post. Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza’s Florida locations include Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Weston, Plantation, Coral Springs, Pembroke Pines, Aventura, Doral, Miami Lakes, Pinecrest, Kendall, Palm Beach Gardens, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Stuart, Wellington, Tampa, Clearwater, Brandon and Orlando, as well as locations in Horsham, PA, Wayne, PA, White Plains, NY, Carle Place, NY, Edison, NJ, Wilmington and Pike Creek, DE. O'Donnell: No Dancing With Stars, For Now

Christine O’Donnell released the following statement on her decision to decline the opportunity to participate on Season 12 of Dancing with the Stars:

“I’m honored to have been invited to participate in one of the few uplifting TV shows out there. The physical challenge made it all the more appealing. Meeting challenges head-on makes us stronger. Yet, for now, I have another challenge before me; to complete a book that tells the story of the 2010 election cycle with the dignity and respect it deserves.

“Many referred to the 2010 elections, and all the activity leading up to them, as the start of the Second American Revolution. This is because so many everyday Americans found themselves engaged in the civic process for the very first time. It’s humbling to have an opportunity to write a book that tells their story.

“It is my hope that this book will serve as a clarion call to my fellow citizen-activists by taking the reader beyond petitions and protests and articulating not just what we should do, but why we must do it.

“My goal is for the book and the new PAC I’m starting to serve as resources to activate and motivate those in this middle-class movement who worked so hard to launch the new revolution. If either of these projects were further along, I would be lacing up my dancing shoes right now.”

Philly Region Tea Party Group Claims Victory

The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC, the only federally registered Tea Party PAC in the tri-state (DE, NJ, PA) area, is claiming victory in Tuesday's midterm elections.
"The goal of our PAC was to 'Take Back Congress,' theme of our April 17, 2010 Tea
Party, and to fire Nancy Pelosi. We did just that," said PAC President, Don Adams.
"A majority of our endorsed candidates won, with our biggest victory being that of Pat Toomey--now Senator-elect Pat Toomey. We picked-up 5 U.S. House seats in Pennsylvania and 1 House seat in New Jersey.
"Pennsylvania is now clearly a red state, as republicans and conservatives won control of an overwhelming number of U.S. House seats, a U.S. Senate seat, the governorship, and the state legislature" said Sean Carpenter, PAC Vice President for Pennsylvania.
"We made our endorsements during the primary and are proud of the results. Besides Senator-elect Toomey, we endorsed challengers Pat Meehan (PA-7), Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8), and Lou Barletta (PA-11). We also endorsed incumbents Jim Gerlach (PA-6), Charlie Dent (PA-15), and Joe Pitts (PA-16)."
In New Jersey, PAC endorsed candidate Jon Runyan (NJ-3) also won. (The PAC had endorsed Runyan over Justin Murphy during the primary.)
"The 'fake' Tea Party candidacy of Peter DeStefano hurt John Adler. The fact that Alder never admitted to his campaign's involvement in putting up DeStefano, despite the Courier Post's investigation proving the opposite, strongly affected the Congressman's credibility," said William Green, PAC Vice President for New Jersey.
"Jon Runyan ran a excellent campaign. He stayed on message and united both the Republican Party and the Tea Party."
"The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC will now turn its attention to the 2012 elections," said Green.

NOW Condemns Viscious Christine O'Donnell Story

The National Organization for Women has decried an anonymous Gawker story about Christine O'Donnell as a “sexist, misogynist attack.”
"This kind of sexist attack is an affront to all women, and I won't stand for it,” NOW spokesman Terry O’Neill said in a statement.
The story, published by Gawker online described a supposed randon sexual encounter with O'Donnell when she was 25 years old.
And there's more: The Smoking Gun is reporting that Gawker paid for the story and it appears as if the author may now have been identified.
The following is from O'Donnell Communications Director Doug Sachtleben regarding the story:

"This story is just another example of the sexism and slander that female candidates are forced to deal with. From Secretary Clinton, to Governor Palin, to soon-to-be Governor Haley, Christine's political opponents have been willing to engage in appalling and baseless attacks — all with the aim of distracting the press from covering the real issues in this race. Even the National Organization for Women gets it, but Christine's opponent disturbingly does not. As Chris Coons said on September 16th he would not condone personal attacks against Christine. Classless Coons goons have proven yet again to have no sense of common decency or common sense with their desperate attacks to get another rubber stamp for the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda. Such attacks are truly shameful, but they will not distract us from making our case to Delaware voters — and keeping the focus on Chris Coons' record of higher taxes, increased spending, and as he has done again here, breaking his promises to the voters."
The National Organization for Women (NOW) on Thursday condemned the tabloid website Gawker for publishing an anonymous account: NOW issued a statement late Thursday stating that "sexist, misogynist attacks against women have no place in the electoral process, regardless of a particular candidate's political ideology."
"NOW repudiates Gawker's decision to run this piece. It operates as public sexual harassment. And like all sexual harassment, it targets not only O'Donnell, but all women contemplating stepping into the public sphere," said NOW president Terry O'Neill.

The Stark Choice Facing The First State

Former Delaware Governor Pete DuPont (no wild-eyed radical, he) has written a superb column for the Wall Street Journal in which he talks about the recent debate between Coons and O'Connell and the stark choice facing voters in the First State.
Here's part of what he says:

When Mr. Blitzer asked Mr. Coons, "Did you increase taxes as the county executive?" Mr Coons ducked the question. But he did in fact increase property taxes in New Castle County, by 48%. And his website says "High-Income Bush Tax Cuts Should Expire on Schedule," so he would raise federal tax rates, too. In the debate, Mr. Coons said that "every increased tax cut, every extension that's given is going to cost, it's going to increase the deficit."
In truth, Delaware's state income tax rate reductions in the 1970s through the '90s-cutting
them in half, and then again in half--increased income-tax receipts by more than 300%. The 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts--the ones that will expire Jan. 1 unless Congress acts--also raised receipts, by $608 billion over four years. Lower tax rates have proved to be good for America, and higher tax rates would hurt it. Ms. O'Donnell would vote not to raise the Bush tax rates and also proposes a two-year tax holiday on capital gains to encourage reinvestment in business. She would also eliminate the death tax that goes up in January

Coons Led County To Near Bankruptcy

While the Associated Press reports that Democrat U.S. Senate hopeful Chris Coons (D-DE) claims he “successfully restored his county to financial health and is ready to do the same for the federal government,” an examination of Coons’ record as New Castle County Executive shows otherwise.
In fact, by Coon’s own standard, he led the county from being “fundamentally sound” to the verge of bankruptcy in just four years, lamenting that the county was “18 months from being out of money” and “unable to operate.”
As New Castle County’s spending skyrocketed by 10 percent under Coons’ leadership, he shifted the burden for his irresponsibility to taxpayers with three massive property tax hikes of 5 percent, 17.5 percent and 25 percent respectively. In 2008, Fitch Ratings downgraded the county’s “rating outlook” from stable to negative because the county’s cash balances were decreasing under Coons’ reckless stewardship.
“Trailing by double-digits less than 60 days before the election, Chris Coons is desperately attempting to rewrite history and distract voters from his record of out-of-control spending and massive tax hikes as he drove New Castle County to the brink of bankruptcy,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond. “Delaware voters deserve more than the same reckless, failed economic agenda that Coons has promised to rubberstamp in Washington, and that’s why we’re confident they will elect a fiscally responsible Republican leader to the U.S. Senate this November.”
